How to enter

Entries are now closed.

Please have the following information ready:

  1. Your contact information (name, phone, email are essential).
  2. Title and brief description of your work eg "Cover for Australian Magazine 'Latte' for the lead story concerning the existential pain associated with the lack of reliable domestic help" .
  3. Digital files of work you want to submit (images should not have your name in them):
    Single digital files must be saved as RGB, JPG format, low res at 72 dpi, up to A4 size (210mm X 297mm, portrait or landscape ie: 600px wide by 850px height)
    Series digital files must be saved as RGB, JPG format, low res at 72 dpi, on an A4 page (210mm X 297mm, portrait or landscape ie: 600px wide by 850px height), limit of 4 images per series - 4 images per A4 page making one image) - These are for viewing online only.
  4. Confirmation of receipt will be given once files are uploaded. Shortlisted entrants will be notified - higher resolution images suitable for print publication will be required. Specifications will be available closer to production date.
  5. Motion/Animation Entries: Please include the 'URL' of where the animation is hosted (eg. a Youtube or Vimeo link). 'Stills' are to be uploaded via the entry form.

CATEGORIES

Advertising
Any commissioned illustration advertising products in any printed media, television, Point of sale, Fashion.

Animation/Interactive
The illustration ONLY component of short and feature animation, interactive illustrated ebooks/apps, commercial animation for web and advertising, a 'URL' link and 'still' production frames are required for entry.

Editorial
Any commissioned illustration pertaining to journalism, magazines/newspapers, articles, current and social events/commentary, political satire/cartoons.

Design and Packaging
Fashion, packaging, greeting cards/stationary/calendars, illustrated textile/surface design, typography, interactive media covers/CD/DVDs.

Books
Commissioned illustration for the over 16 market, incl. book covers, graphic novels, text books, inside illustrations, zines and ebooks.

Children's Books
Commissioned illustration for the under 16 market, incl. picture/board books, book covers, graphic novels, ebooks, inside illustrations, zines ebooks.

Unpublished
Illustration for self promotion, exhibition, unpublished and yet to be published work.

Institutional
Work created for use within an organisation eg Govt/Health/Educ, in-house publications.

Instructional/Technical
Commissioned Illustration for posters, books and brochures etc used for communicating knowledge or explaining information or data.

Price for Entries

Prices for all entries are listed under the 'PAYMENT' link. Should your entry be successfully chosen as a winning entry no further payment will be required for publication or for inclusion on the website gallery. All fees are in Australian dollars and are inclusive of GST.

Terms & Conditions

By submitting your entry forms you are agreeing to the Terms & Conditions set by Illustrators Australia, you must tick the box to proceed on the registration page.

Rights

All entrants retain all copyright and ownership of their artwork. All entrants grant Illustrators Australia the right to reproduce winning images (hi res) for the IA Awards on the IA website gallery and within the IA resource book that is mailed out to industry and in our materials used to promote the IA Resource Book. Winning images (lo res) may also be used on the IA Facebook page to promote the Awards and the illustrator. Winning entrants will be attributed their Moral Rights in all reproductions of their images. No cropping or alterations will be required unless deemed absolutely necessary for the printed A5 booklet in which case the entrant's permission would be sought.

All entrants confirm that the work submitted is their own original work and does not breach any rights of the third parties.

All winning entrants grant IA the right to reproduce their high resolution images for a 2 year period which covers one print run of the A5 booklet. IA Awards website gallery and IA Facebook page low resolution winning images in perpetuity (ongoing, as the IA Awards gallery will be available continuously on the IA website for viewing and most images on IA Facebook page are only likely to be posted only a few times over the life of the relevant Awards but available on the internet).

Awards

All winning high resolution entries will be featured in our printed IA Resource book which will be mailed out to our industry list which includes art directors, studios, advertising agencies, designers, publishers, and any other companies/individuals that commission illustration. The Award winning entries will be featured in the first part of the book giving optimum coverage. Contact details of the winning entrants will be printed as well as the details of their images (supplied by entrant). All winning images will also be featured on the IA website in a special Awards gallery. All winning entrants will receive a certificate and a free IA resource book.

Payment information

All information on payments are online - Payment is through secure site 'Snipcart', please make sure you have finalised your entries before you make your payment. A receipt will be issued to you through 'Snipcart'.

Refund Policy

All entry submissions are final and entry fees are non-refundable.

Judging

Our esteemed judges have been asked to judge the Awards using their extensive experience and dedication in their field. The Judge line up is a combination of Australian and International illustrators, art directors, animators, publishers and designers. The criteria will be for the judges to use their own creative flare and knowledge to choose the image that stands out to them as the very best in each category, answering the questions of whether it answers the brief* and the professionalism of image resulting in a Gold winner, they will then be able to pick Silver and Highly Commended images from the same categories using the same criteria. ALL images in all categories will be shown as anonymous to the judges via an online gallery only accessible to the judges. ALL Judges decisions are final and no discussion will be entered into. Judging will take place in the first two weeks of September 2015.
